TCP Global is a world leader in automotive paint and needed to reflect that on their website. I was tasked with giving a more professional look to their homepage and helping streamline the process of finding all of their affiliate sub brands. Through Illustrator and photoshop I came up with static mockups and layouts that went through several rounds of changes back and forth through management until they were approved. The final result is a sleek, spacious, and encompassing website that demonstrates right off the top of the page who the company is and what they stand for. Scroll down a little ways and you can see what other global companies trust TCP for their coatings. Some aspects of the page were frightfully resistant to change due to the framework that was initially established with Shopify, but I think it comes pretty close and looks great all the same.
The Proofs
Flexibility is a crucial skill when it comes to web design. Not everything you start with is going to look exactly the same by the end. We found out during the re-coding process that the navigation bar was unconfigurable – we could only add or subtract to it and not re-design it. Such is the way that legacy code can go, and for such a high volume site like this that moves tens of thousands of dollars a day, rebuilding the navigation from scratch was not an option anymore. Personally I wish we could have used my design but the finished product saw increased traffic, retention, and more direct paths through button clicks for customers to find what they needed.
